“To my mind, the greatest reward and luxury of travel is to be able to experience everyday things as if for the first time, to be in a position in which almost nothing is so familiar it is taken for granted” – Bill Bryson

Giraffe Centre
Nairobi National Park
Officially opened in 1946 by conservationist Mervyn Cowie, Nairobi National Park was the first national park established in Kenya. Only a fence separates the 28,963-acre park and its wildlife from the city. Here you can spot free-roaming wildlife species such as lion, black rhino, giraffe, various species of antelope, and an abundance of birdlife against the dramatic backdrop of Nairobi’s skyline.
An early-morning departure means cooler temperatures and the chance to see the animals when they are most active, prowling grassy plains and acacia bush.
L. Naivasha’s Crescent Island & Hells Gate
Altho Crescent Island Game Sanctuary is surrounded by water, it is actually a peninsula and currently only accessible by boat. You can explore Lake Naivasha’s wildlife on a 1hour boat tour and spot the hippos that linger just at the surface of the water. The shores also host abundant birdlife including pelican, cormorant, fish-eagle with their haunting cry, lesser flamingo and African spoonbill.
Hells Gate
A private tour from Nairobi to the wildlife reserve allows you a chance to ride a bike thru the park and a guided hiking trip through the gorges. Enjoy the ease of a round-trip transfer from Nairobi in a private tour operated with just your party and a guide/driver.
Kiambethu Tea Farm
Just a short drive from the heart of Nairobi, Kiambethu Farm at Limuru provides a tranquil insight into life on a settler’s farm.
The farmhouse is set within beautiful gardens surrounded by acres of tea and indigenous forest – home to the Colobus monkey. After a brief history of the homestead and the making of tea, you can take a guided walk in the indigenous forest or relax on the veranda with a drink while enjoying a spectacular view of the tea fields and the Ngong Hills.
A delicious 3-course buffet lunch is served prepared with produce from their garden and desserts topped with cream from their Channel Island cows.
Tours are offered each week from Thursday to Sunday and include a tour of their indigenous forest and lunch.
